Development of waste LCD glass foaming to be building light aggregate by microwave

Absrtact
The waste LCD glass with small bubbles was studied. The bulk material with pores on the surface and full bulk was fabricated by microwave heating. The fabrication and mechanism of the porous process by microwave heating on the surface and full bulk of waste LCD glass were researched in this study. The general glasses are not heated by microwave induction, but find that proper microwave medium materials could be heated directly by microwave. These results were analyzed by scanning electron microscope for microstructure, by infrared thermometer for temperature and loss of weight. The microwave medium materials, microwave power, and type of refractory crucible were the major parameters in this process. The results were divided into three parts, first was the parameters of this porous process by microwave heating, second was corresponding porous properties of the waste glass. The microwave heating conditions were controlled at power 0-720W for 1-20 min in the oxidation experiment. The mechanism of pores formed on the surface of the glass substrate was described as follows. When microwave energy was absorbed by organic and the temperature was increased, the surface region glass adjacent to hot organic powders reduce the viscosity, which was beneficial for organic sink gradually into it. Then the surface traces and river like were generated before oxidation reaction of organic powders on the surface. The kinds of the pores can be divided into open and closed pore. In the early stage there will be a closed pore, the pore size was increased as organic combustion impelled. Because of high temperature the shape of glass specimen was to be deformed. Using the clay crucible for the container in the microwave stove, the temperature can arrive 925 ℃for 4.5 minutes. The size of the foamed glass ball was between 1mm and 3mm, and the pore size was 55 ~ 120μm. The density decreases from 1.245g / cm3 to about 1.105g / cm3, which the pore volume was 11.2 vol%. The absorb radiation heat test show that the average temperature of the heat source was about 95 ℃ and the temperature difference of the LCD glass can be as high as 3 ℃ ~ 4 ℃ before and after foaming. The R value of thermal resistance was increased to 13.1% ~ 22.8%.The results of three-point compressive strength showed that the addition of porous glass spheres reduced the fracture strength from 358.33N to 282.15 N, and the elongation from 14.15% to 11.6%. The yield point was maintained at 10% and the Young's modulus increased from 26MPa to 70MPa, Rigidity increased nearly 2.7 times. In sound insulation test, the Rw value increased from 40 to 47. After observing the interface of the glass and cement, the effect of glass ball on fracture face was significant. The broken part of the glass ball was pulled out phenomenon, the interface was generally good. The characteristics of porous glass ball meet the properties of light cement additive.
